The Way Out to Freedom is an Outreach that was born out of personal experiences of abuse, various traumas, and a journey out of a highly controlling church. Through a spiritual awakening about the church where we had been long-time members, we realized a change needed to happen.
We embarked on a process of leaving that church and began a journey of discovery, recovery, and healing through a deeper relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. This journey also led us into the realm of cult recovery, as we began to understand the deep effects of being part of a spiritually and emotionally controlling environment.
This awakening spurred a deep desire to help others who are hurting, questioning their own experiences in faith communities and other environments, and who need a safe place to get help and support.
The Way Out to Freedom is simply a safe space to learn about spiritual and emotional abuse, ask questions, and contemplate without judgment—a place for cult recovery, where individuals can heal and rebuild. It's a space to become informed, think objectively, and make your own personal decisions about your relationships and faith community.
Too often, people are shamed, silenced, or afraid to ask questions because we know, from personal experience, there can be consequences. This is that safe haven, an open forum. No shaming, no fear mongering, no hate or slander.
