What Is Therapy or Life Coaching Like?
Sessions are tailored to your needs. You’ll explore current challenges, relevant past experiences, and progress over time. Some clients need only a few sessions for specific issues; others work longer to shift deeper patterns. You set the pace, and between sessions, you may journal, reflect, or practice strategies to create meaningful change.
-
What’s the Difference Between Therapy and Life Coaching?
- Therapy: Focuses on healing past wounds, managing mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, grief), and improving emotional well-being.
- Life Coaching: Focuses on goal setting, personal growth, confidence-building, and practical strategies for achieving your dreams.
Many clients benefit from a combination of both.
-
How Long Will I Need Counseling?
The length of counseling depends on your goals and the challenges you’re addressing. Many clients see meaningful progress in a few sessions, while deeper patterns may take longer to shift. Therapy and coaching are most effective when clients actively implement strategies and tools between sessions, which greatly influences results.
-
How Long Do Couples Counseling Sessions Last?
Couples' sessions are typically 50 minutes, but for most couples, we recommend an extended session. Meeting together over 3 to 6 months allows time to address deeper relational patterns, practice new communication strategies, and strengthen connection. The exact duration depends on the couple’s goals and engagement in applying the tools and guidance provided.
-
How Will I Know if a Life Coach or Therapist Is the Right Fit for Me?
You’ll know it’s a good fit when you feel heard, respected, and understood. A strong fit allows you to explore your goals, challenges, and emotions safely while receiving guidance, support, and practical strategies. It’s normal to meet with a few professionals before deciding—the right match helps you engage fully and achieve meaningful, lasting change.
-
What About Medication vs. Therapy?
Medication can help manage symptoms, while therapy addresses the underlying causes. Many clients find the best results by combining both. Always consult your doctor alongside your therapy sessions to find the best approach for you.
